Lieve Brochez
Lieve Brochez is Head of Clinic at the Dermatology Department Ghent University Hospital and full professor at the University of Ghent. She is specialized in dermato-oncology and has published over 100 A1 publications in this domain. She is principal investigator in the Cancer Research Institute Ghent (CRIG), and steering member for BADO, BDG and the College of Oncology. She is member of EADV, EADO, EORTC Melanoma and Cutaneous Lymphoma subgroup and the European Reference Network on rare skin cancers, and current chairman of Euroskin (the European society of skin cancer prevention).
Chris Callewaert
Dr. Chris Callewaert holds two masters and a PhD from Ghent University, Belgium. He was teaching assistant and did his PhD at the Center for Microbial Ecology and Technology at Ghent University, Belgium. He then became postdoctoral researcher at University of California, San Diego, USA. Now he is a Senior Postdoctoral Research fellow at Ghent University, Belgium. He studies the skin microbiome and metabolome and is a pioneer in skin microbiome transplantations and manipulations. During the corona pandemic, he has also trained sniffer dogs to detect COVID19 infection from people’s sweat, with >95% accuracy. His research led to >30 peer-reviewed publications and was presented at countless international conferences. His research has been featured many times in the media, among which CNN, BBC, FOX, NPR, Huffington Post, Washington Post, The Times, etc. He presented a TED talk and results of his research can be found on www.DrArmpit.com.

Canan Güvenç, post-doc and clinical support manager at the department of dermatology, UZleuven. Under the supervision of Prof Garmyn, she conducts research on skin cancer, in particular melanomas. The title of her PhD research was “metastasizing and non-metastasizing thick melanomas: clinicopathological predictors and molecular profiling”.
Isabelle Hoorens
Isabelle Hoorens is a dermatologist working at the Ghent University Hospital, and is also working as a postdoctoral fellow at the FWO. Her main clinical focus is dermato-oncology and confocal microscopy. She performs mainly clinical research withing the DRU research group in the domain of dermato-oncology as well, and especially keratinocyte cancers. She is working on the following topics: epidemiology, health related quality of life, non-invasive imaging and health economical evaluations.

Marc Van Ranst was born in Bornem, Belgium on June 20, 1965. He graduated as a medical doctor from the University of Leuven in 1990. From 1985 on, he trained at the Rega Institute for Medical Research in Leuven. From 1990 to 1993, he worked at the Department of Microbiology and Immunology at Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York, where he received his Ph.D. degree in virology in 1994. In 1998, he became board-licensed as a specialist in clinical biology. Since 1999, he is a professor at the University of Leuven in Belgium. From 2012 to 2020, he was the chairman of the Department of Microbiology, Immunology and Transplantation of the Biomedical Sciences Group. From 2010 to 2020, he was a member of the University Hospitals Leuven Board Committee.

Katrien Vossaert
Katrien Vossaert did her residency at the Department of Dermatology at the University Hospital of Gent. In 1990, she became a Melanoma Fellow at NYU Medical Center. She was involved in clinical research on skin cancer, mostly atypical nevi and melanoma. Dermoscopy became her main field of interest. After her return to Belgium in 1992, she started a private practice in general dermatology. She is now chief of a dermatology clinic ‘Dermatologie Maldegem’, where she works together with 3 associates, and 4 residents. She is still involved in scientific work and teaching as president of the Belgian Dermoscopy Group. She is also board member of the Belgian Society of Dermatology.
