15:30 - 16:30 | Workshop 1: Psoriasis and psoriasis comorbidities - Prof. Jo Lambert (UZ Gent) & Prof. Adrien Nzeusseu (UCL) - This workshop will guide you through challenging, yet everyday clinical situations in your psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis patients, through the discussion of demonstrative patient cases. Topic range: Which systemic treatment to start for psoriasis arthritis if a patient has other risk factors (other immune diseases, infectious states, cancer...)? Can we ever stop a systemic treatment? The 'failure to every drug' patient? Unexpected side effects? How can (or should) a dermatologist deal with cardiovascular risk factors? The female patient? The language will be English. |
15:30 - 16:30 | Workshop 2: JAK Inhibitors Sponsored by Eli Lilly - Prof. Andreas Wollenberg(LMU Munich), Dr. Pierre Dominique Ghislain (UCL) & Prof. Jan Gutermuth (VUB) - The workshop 'JAK Inhibitors" will discuss this new group of promising, attractive but sometimes still misunderstood and even worrying treatments. What should we think about them? How effective are they in the various studied indications? And what is the tolerance? Should all JAKi be considered together, or should distinctions be made in the safety profile? How should they be used on a daily basis: initial assessment, follow-up? The aim is to provide a practical insight, to see more clearly at the beginning of this new therapeutic era. |
15:30 - 16:30 | Workshop 3: Tips and tricks of surgery - Prof. Arjen Nikkels (CHU Liège) & Prof. An Van Laethem (UZ Leuven) - The workshop is aimed for the beginning dermatologist without major experience, or for the dermatologist performing only seldom skin surgery, in order to refresh the major basic principles. The workshop provides a series of basic, logical and functional tips to improve your surgical skills. The subjects include the pre-operative evaluation of your patient and lesion to be excised, anesthetic issues, hemostasis, basic surgical issues, basic suturing tips, wound dressing and healing as well as post-procedure care of the surgical site. The language will be English. |
15:30 - 16:30 | Workshop 4: Nails - Prof. Bertrand Richert (CHU St Pierre) & Dr. Beatrice Verhamme (UZ Leuven) - Nail diseases may have a major effect on our health and well-being. Not only can they effect us in a cosmetic way with disfiguring nails caused by inflammatory or infectious diseases (the 'ugly' nail) but they can potentially also be malignant (the 'bad nail'). In this workshop, we will guide you through 5 major nail disorders: the ones you may encounter in your routine and that you should know how to treat properly (onychomycosis & nail psoriasis), the ones you should not miss because it's a nail emergency (nail lichen planus) the ones that are malignant but not aggressive (epidermoid carcinoma) and the one that can kill (melanoma). We will discuss the latest and most up to date treatment guidelines. |
15:30 - 16:30 | Workshop 5: Sun and skin/skin cancers - Dr. Isabelle Hoorens (UZ Gent) & Prof. Bita Dezfoulian (CHU Liège) - Long-term exposure to ultra-violet radiation is a major risk factor leading to a high incidence of skin cancer among the ageing population. Correct photoprotection, especially applied as early as possible, remains the best approach for preventing skin cancer. Because most of them are essentially induced by (chronic) sun exposure. Attempts to prevent skin cancer by taking antioxidants (beta-carotene, selenium, vitamin C) are not yet fully conclusive, as well to reduce their burden by screening in the general population. This workshop will focus on the epidemiological trends of skin cancer and the health economical aspects of primary skin cancer prevention. It will discuss the principles of photoprotection, but also sunscreens and their exact effects as well as side-effects. |
15:30 - 16:30 | Workshop 6: Management of difficult non-melanoma skin cancer - Prof. Marjan Garmyn (UZ Leuven) & Prof. Lieve Brochez (UZ Gent) - This workshop covers the management of difficult cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma and basal cell carcinoma. Staging, best treatment option(s), chemo-prevention and follow-up will be discussed in an interactive way on the basis of concrete cases from the clinic. |
16:30 - 17:00 | Coffee Break |
